The biggest danger with whiplash injuries is that the symptoms can take years to develop. Too often people don't seek treatment until more serious complications develop. Even two years after a road traffic accident, some 45% of whiplash victims report they still suffer with symptoms.
Whiplash is most commonly received from a rear shunt, riding in a car that is struck from behind, or collides with another vehicle. When the head is suddenly jerked back and forth beyond its normal limits, the muscles and ligaments supporting the spine can be over-stretched or torn.. The soft pulpy discs between the vertebrae can bulge, tear, or rupture. Vertebrae can be forced out of their normal position, reducing range of motion. The spinal cord and nerve roots get stretched, irritated, and cause arm and shoulder pain.
Common Whiplash Symptoms Neck pain and/or stiffness Blurred vision Difficulty swallowing Irritability Fatigue Dizziness Pain between the shoulder blades Pain in the arms and hands Pain in the legs and feet Headache Low back pain and/or stiffness Shoulder pain Nausea Ringing in the ears Vertigo Numbness and tingling Pain in the jaw or face
Yes. We have dozens of testimonials from previous patients here at the clinic who have written to us in thanks after serious car accidents.
Chiropractic restores the vertebra and the surrounding soft tissue to their normal physiological position. This, in turn, allows the body to heal itself while in the proper position. If left untreated, the spine can heal in the incorrect manner and cause problems such as neck pain, headaches and nerve pain in the future. Your chiropractic Doctor wil not only address the spine but the surrounding muscles, tendons and ligaments that help support the spine.

After suffering whiplash in a car accident I went to Alex before I even approached my Doctor. My breathing was very messed up from back problems and muscle tension which was always helped better by Alex. He physically fixed me but mentally helped me recover when I was at my worst and lowest moments.
His caring and professional manner was always comforting and his advice and reassurance was ever helpful. I really am very thankful to you for all the help when I felt like my world was crashing down on me!

In February 2009 I received my 3rd whiplash following a road traffic accident. The headaches and pain in my neck were unbelievably distressing.
On previous injuries I went for physio treatment which was fine but I never really recovered properly.
A friend recommended I tried Chiropractic and recommended Alex Bowling. I had nothing to loose. So I went to see Alex and it wasn’t long before my symptoms and pain disappeared. In fact it was remarkable as he found other little problems within my back that needed putting right.
Amazing: no other word to describe it. Just wished I had done this sooner.

In March I was involved in an accident from which I suffered whiplash. I visited the GP who instructed me to take pain relief tablets, but I decided to go to a Chiropractor too.
Alex, there was an immediate relief. The pain was not so bad and this improved as time went on. Because it was important to keep mobile I didn’t have any time off work and because I was virtually pain free.
